Atlas Design System
A bold reimagining of SiriusXM, unifying iOS, Android, Web, and TV experiences at scale
A case study focused on policy changes, consent windows, and enabling outbound messaging flows on enhanced channels.
In Q1 2022, we launched Enhanced Messaging Channels, allowing businesses to send rich, interactive messages to their customers. Before this, businesses relied on Standard Messaging Channels, which only supported plain text messages during ongoing messaging sessions.
Since Q3 2022, customers reported difficulties sending outbound messages on Standard and Enhanced Messaging Channels. We discovered that messaging partners introduced new guidelines and restrictions on allowable message types.
The inability to send outbound messages due to new consent and policy changes affected customer trust and blocked expansion into regions where WhatsApp is critical.
Agents were unable to continue conversations after a time window elapsed, increasing escalations and reducing resolution quality.
Messaging Channels allow businesses to initiate conversations only after customers opt in. This consent is time-limited (e.g., 24 hours for WhatsApp). After expiry, businesses must use approved message types to restart the conversation.
This project replica intentionally keeps interactive prototypes static (layout + styles preserved; the controls do not mutate state).
